Design Process
At Stacey Smith Interior Design, we craft spaces that feel as good as they look. Whether it’s a modern office, a welcoming café, a boutique retail space, a timeless family home or character-filled renovation. Our process is designed to keep you involved, inspired, and in control. This isn’t just design. It’s collaboration, creativity, and care - from first ideas to final touches.
Once I receive your initial enquiry I will follow up with a phone call or email to begin the process.We’ll arrange a time to meet either on site or via zoom, I will send you a new clientquestionnaire to complete beforehand. You’ll also receive a welcome pack with helpfulinformation about working together. From there we’ll begin turning your vision into reality.
Our Process
Your vision, our ears. We start with an on-site or virtual meeting to understand your goals, your style, and how you want the space to feel. We’ll also consider sustainable design choices from the beginning.
See the possibilities. This is where ideas come to life with curated colour palettes, textures, material mood boards, and initial layout sketches. You’ll feel the space before it’s even built.
Refining the details. We create floor plans, elevations, and 3D visuals so you can make confident decisions. Every element is refined to suit your brief and your brand.
The blueprint. We prepare clear, detailed drawings and documents for your contractors. This ensures your design is executed exactly as envisioned - with no surprises along the way.
One point of contact. No stress. We manage orders, liaise with suppliers and trades, and make sure everything runs on time and to budget. You focus on your business - we’ll handle the rest.
The exciting part! Furniture, art, lighting, greenery - all the finishing touches come together for the big reveal. We style the space to feel complete, functional, and inspiring.
We don’t just walk away. We check in after 30 days and again at 6 months to ensure your space is working as it should. Adjustments? Tweaks? We’re here.

Director / Designer
I believe great design is about more than how a space looks - it’s about how it feels.
Based in Taranaki, I create modern, sophisticated interiors that are not only beautiful but also cohesive, inviting, and designed to enhance everyday life.
Before founding Stacey Smith Interior Design, I spent over 10 years running my own business in the appliance industry.
During that time, I worked closely with both domestic and commercial clients, helping to design kitchens and workspaces and supplying them with high-quality appliances and electronics. That experience gave me a strong understanding of how people use their spaces every day, and how important it is to balance style with practicality.
I hold a Diploma in Interior Design from the NZ Interior Design Institute, along with specialist certificates in SketchUp, Commercial Design, Kitchen and Bathroom Design, and Landscape Design. This mix of creative vision, technical knowledge, and real-world experience allows me to bring a thoughtful, well-rounded approach to every project.
I work across both commercial and domestic design - from workplaces that inspire productivity and collaboration to homes that feel warm, functional, and uniquely personal. I can also offer clients the convenience of sourcing appliances and products as part of the design process, helping to create spaces that are truly cohesive from concept through to completion.
